As an eco-friendly hotel, our overall sustainable approach to hospitality shines through in all areas of the hotel; from the local sourcing of produce for our restaurants to our pool heated from excess heat. While our sustainability ambitions are limitless, we pay due regard to the level of quality and comfort expected from an upscale hotel. This means working with brands who share our vision and sense of responsibility, while also understanding the aspect of being a contemporary, luxury hotel in the centre of Copenhagen. As part of a larger conversation of eliminating plastic waste from our culture, with miniature plastic bottles currently littering hotel rooms worldwide, damaging the environment, Villa considers amenities a topic of utmost importance.
“The collection available in all rooms is vegan, organic and natural and is produced here in Denmark, with spring water from an ancient local well. We believe in local and responsible sourcing wherever possible as it reduces emissions and impact on the environment” says Skandinavisk founder, Shaun Russell.
In replacing tiny bottles with wall-mounted, refillable dispensers, Villa works with the like-minded people of Skandinavisk who share the hotel’s sustainability agenda, having recently been granted the esteemed B Corp certification as one of very few fragrance brands worldwide.
“The collection available in all rooms is vegan, organic and natural and is produced here in Denmark, with spring water from an ancient local well. We believe in local and responsible sourcing wherever possible as it reduces emissions and impact on the environment” says Skandinavisk founder, Shaun Russell.
“We have not previously worked with hotels, but Villa contacted us with a completely different philosophy and genuine interest in challenging the status quo, so we found that this was a partnership worth pursuing” he adds.

The collection includes hand and body washes, lotion as well as an exclusive shampoo and conditioner, and the full-size vessels are produced with renewably-sourced and recyclable plant-based plastic.
As a brand that celebrates the benefits of a more Scandinavian approach to life, crystallised in the unique balance of raw nature and human wellbeing that exists here, Skandinavisk’s fragrances represent chapters in the story of Scandinavia – from the boreal forests to the maritime history, as well as life balance and everyday happiness.
As a guest at Villa, you’re offered a sensorial experience of the nature surrounding you in Copenhagen’s neighbouring landscapes. Boreal forests are a familiar sight to anyone living in or visiting the region, seeing that more than half of Scandinavia is forested.
“We agreed that this was a relevant theme for the hotel” says Russell about deciding on the SKOG fragrance collection for Villa.
About the partnership, Russell says: “As a Copenhagen hotel, Villa understands the value in sharing their story and surroundings, with similar ambitions to use their hotel as a reflection of the best Copenhagen and Scandinavia has to offer. It feels like a partnership of equals, both intent on exploring new directions.”
